Northlands Possible Involvement

This article discusses the possibility of public funding being a part of the financial solution that needs to be reached in order for a new arena to be constructed. Northlands is the organization that currently runs the day to day operations of Rexall Place which is the current home of the Edmonton Oilers. Many people think that if there is public money to be used that it has to come through Northlands being involved in the new arena being built.

  1. I'm not sure about Rexall. I think we might have the worst food services of any arena in the country with them. Blech!

That said, many people want Northlands involved because they are trusted. They're a community-based organization, and a lot of citizens feel they will always act in Edmonton's best interests. Not to mention a lot of the big movers and shakers in the city are, or have been, part of Northlands.

I think there is definately a trust factor with public funds, that if Northlands is involved we'll be getting a good deal.
